Vacation at Paradise Point and Photos at the Hotel del Coronado

Janet’s extended family photos in San Diego were planned way ahead . . . because getting so many people together at once doesn’t happen by accident! I’ll let Janet tell
Jared and Kari’s beach photo session is so memorable because of the giant rogue wave that took them out at the end. That image got a lot of attention on social media, and one friend’s poignant comment was more insightful than seems possible, given that she didn’t even know Jared and Kari. She said: “Oh how beautiful a word picture this portrays. I don’t know about you, but this photo exactly captures many moments in doing life with my husband. You are standing together, enjoying life, and all of a sudden, something comes along that can literally sweep you off your feet. I’m caught off guard, but my husband is right there, holding me tight, even smiling, while saying ‘I’ve got you. It’s alright!'”
I just love Celine’s vision for Sophie’s special growing-up photos. Starting when she was just four, she has carefully scheduled photo yearly sessions complete with beautiful locations and fancy dresses.

I first photographed the Cole family when they lived in San Diego, but they’ve moved away since then. I was so glad to see them again this year and meet their precious new addition! Let’s start with a family photo from three years ago and then let Christina tell this year’s story.
Here’s the story behind Breanne’s extended family photo session: “San Diego was our family pick for a summer vacation. We love San Diego and thought it would be an amazing place for our little kiddos (3 under 3! and a 6 year old) to spend time relaxing and having fun! We opted to rent a large home in Pacific Beach where everyone could enjoy each other’s company even after the kiddos went to sleep. Highlights obviously included beach fun and a trip to the oh-so-famous San Diego Zoo. We splurged and added the discovery cart tour, a must with little kids.” –>
Lori and her extended family take a trip to San Diego every summer, and she says the beach is the “best sandbox in the world.” That’s TRUE! What better place for a photo session with these three brothers, ages 4, 3, and 2? These boys were ALL about the sand, the water, and the fact that their doting adults were blowing bubbles and making all kinds of fun behind me.
Visiting from Kansas City, Brandi’s family knows San Diego! Among their favorite outings during their trip were excursions to Alpine, Julian, Silver Strand, and Lolita’s (who doesn’t love Lolita’s?). Their little boy is four this year, and there’s really no better age for family photos, so they made their session a priority (even carrying-on their photoshoot clothing) and surprised their son with a trip to Disneyland, announced DURING the session!
This was our first vacation to San Diego and we LOVED IT!! Our family typically travels to Carolina or Florida beaches, but we decided to check out the west coast. The weather, beaches and delicious food were amazing! As my kids have gotten older, it makes it more and more challenging to schedule a vacation together. I thought it would be fun to mark this special time with family photos which were relaxed and in a beautiful, natural setting.
