My son Steven is finishing up eighth grade, and he and I are just about to do the traditional middle school field trip to Washington, D.C. We arrived a few days ahead in order to spend time with my friends Keri and Kimberly, who live in Yorktown and Centreville, Virginia. As it happens, both friends have sons who are graduating from high school this year! On the way home from the airport, we stopped at a battery station at Fort Monroe National Monument in Hampton, and I photographed Keri’s son Zachary. The location had some very cool vibes, and I loved playing with the light and trying some unusual angles.
As it happens, Keri’s family was actually my very first family session at the Hotel del Coronado—THIRTEEN years ago. You can see how that went right here. I photographed them again seven years ago, right before they moved to Virginia, and it was sure fun to walk into their house yesterday and see that last silhouette shot hanging above their fireplace.
Here are Zach’s senior photos!
