Congratulations, Joshua — Next Stop, NYU Tisch!
Every few years, Mario and I get to meet up for another senior session as one of her extremely good-looking kids heads off on their own adventure. I’ve now photographed three of them, and it’s become one of my favorite little traditions. (She’s down to one kiddo at home now, so this chapter is winding down — which I have feelings about.)
This time it was Joshua’s turn, and we headed to Little Italy — the same spot where I shot his brother Jonathan’s senior session. There’s something fun about returning to a location with a sibling: same colorful streets and great light, totally different kid. Joshua brought a quiet, humble confidence — exactly the kind of thoughtful, grounded way about him that you’d expect from someone headed to film school.
Because that’s the headline: Joshua graduates from High Tech High next week, and this fall he’s off to NYU Tisch, class of 2030, to study at one of the best film schools in the country. The kid who his mom says has been “built different” his whole life is about to go make movies in New York City. Makes sense!

Congratulations, Joshua. Tisch has no idea what’s about to hit it. Go get ’em.
