Where the Heart Feels at Home: Zoë’s Sunset Senior Session by the Sea

When Zoë’s family planned a summer trip to San Diego, she saw the perfect chance to take her senior photos.

“My mom and I found Amy’s work online and thought it was breathtaking,” Zoë said.

The beach gave her everything she hoped for—light, color, and the feeling of a place that’s always been part of her story. Though she lives in Denver now, Zoë and her mom were both born in San Diego, and coming back feels like returning home.

Her favorite image is a silhouette at sunset, arms lifted against the sky.

“It means a lot because it shows San Diego’s beauty within a photo of me. This city feels like home and always will.”

What stood out most was the ease of the session and how I chatted her up the whole time (guilty!). She loved it that we could include two of her best friends in the session, with individuals and groups shots of everyone.

As she looks ahead, Zoë is open-minded about where life will take her.

“I’d like to attend SDSU, though I’m not sure yet what I’ll study. I’ve learned it’s okay to not have everything figured out. What I do know is that I want to build my future here, in San Diego.”
