Elesha and Sajiv had lived in San Diego for 15 years but had never done a family session since their girls’ newborn photos. It was time. The girls were the perfect age, and Elesha had her eye on some beach photos. She’d seen the ones with the glassy shore, the whole family alone as if they have the whole coastline to themselves.

In their family, Sajiv brings the dry humor, and Elesha is the friendly one. Neela is eight and the older sister who likes to do the right thing . . . and make sure the others are, too. Aniah is six and more shy, but also sweet and fun. They were being so energetic and silly during the session that, at once point, Elesha was convinced the whole thing was a bust! She told me afterward she was nervous we wouldn’t get even one good picture.

Her favorite ended up being a laughing shot from the very beginning, outside the Hotel del Coronado, when she was sure things were going sideways. *My* favorite was from the end, on the beach side of the hotel, with both girls kissing their parents.

As usual, I love adventurous kids with personality, and her kiddos had both. No shortage of fun expressions and happy, genuine smiles here, and those are the most important ingredients in a successful family beach session.
