When Peter and Kristin planned their family trip to San Diego, they thought the beach would be the perfect spot for photos. Their kids, Genevieve (5) and Liam (3), were about to start preschool and kindergarten, and this felt like the right time to capture life as it is right now.
“We just wanted to capture this moment in time,” Kristin said. “We also love family vacations and being able to spend time together without all the distractions of daily life.”
Genevieve is a little reserved, loves being a big sister, splashing in the ocean and getting her brother to chase her. Liam is all boy and happiest playing in the sand with his construction vehicle toys.
The beach brought out the adventure in the kids, and like most little ones, they weren’t exactly focused on sitting still for photos. Kristin remembered, “The kids were not the most cooperative and really just wanted to play in the sand and water.” This is totally normal, and I actually love photographing kids who are enjoying the beach and focused on play!
This was Peter and Kristin’s first time doing family photos while traveling, and Kristen said they loved the experience. “I think I might be convinced that we should do pictures while traveling from now on because it truly is the best souvenir.”
The family, who came from Kansas City (Go Chiefs!), spent their trip relaxing on Coronado, visiting the zoo, and exploring the USS Midway. I’m so glad they took time for a photo session on vacation this year, and I hope to see them again the next time they head to San Diego!
