Some senior sessions feel like a celebration the moment they begin, and Samantha’s was just that. The wind had a mind of its own that evening, but so did Samantha—and she was determined to enjoy the moment, and she did! Her only request going into the shoot? “A couple great shots with minimal hair in my face.” The wind WAS crazy, but somehow, her gallery is full of windswept magic that still feels calm and confident—just like her.
Samantha is a lifelong San Diegan and a senior at Liberty Charter High. She’s been in the Literacy First school system since kindergarten. That kind of long-haul commitment is rare these days, and it says a lot about who she is—hardworking, loyal, and grounded. Her senior year has been tough (because, well, senior year), but she’s heading into the nursing program at SDSU with her head held high. Out of 10,000 applicants, she was one of 163 accepted.
That stat alone deserves its own confetti toss.
We chatted about school photos, sports, and her letterman jacket. It was one of those sessions where the conversation flowed easily, the laughs were real, and we discovered we knew a lot of the same people. That’s San Diego for you—big city energy, small town connections.
Samantha, you were a joy to photograph. Thank you for trusting me with your senior portraits, wind and all. I have no doubt the same drive that got you through AP tests and into SDSU will carry you beautifully into your future. Your photos may be the “pause” button on this chapter, but the best parts of your story are just getting started. I’m excited for you!!
