Mikalyn booked her senior session after seeing her USD softball teammates’ photos, knowing she wanted to capture the excitement of graduation and the beauty of the University of San Diego campus.
One of her favorite moments was tossing her cap in the air in front of the Immaculata. It’s a photo that symbolizes a full-circle moment. As a freshman, she used to watch seniors take that same shot, and now it was finally her turn.
We also stopped by the new softball complex, which opened just in time for Mikalyn and her senior teammates to finish their time at USD and enjoy dreaming of the future of softball there. It was the perfect way to honor her time as a student-athlete while celebrating everything she’s achieved.
Mikalyn is the oldest of several much younger siblings, and we talked about how important her example is to them—showing what hard work and perseverance can look like. As a Behavioral Neuroscience major who also juggled a demanding softball schedule, there’s a lot for her family to be proud of and for her siblings to admire.
After graduation, Mikalyn is taking a well-earned gap year to rest, be with family, and get some clinical and volunteer experience before applying to PA school. There may be some softball coaching in her future, too!
Mikalyn, thank you for letting me capture this moment. I hope these photos always bring you back to this exciting time. Congratulations!
