Spring Break Surprise: Why This Mom Booked a Secret Photo Session
Sometimes, life gives you a wake-up call that makes you realize how fast time is flying—and how important it is to hit pause for a second.

Claire has called San Diego home her entire life, and the University of San Diego has been her world for the past four years. For her grad session, she wanted photos that reflected her connection to campus—the views, the buildings, and the sense of pride that comes from finishing something big.

Mikalyn booked her senior session after seeing her USD softball teammates’ photos, knowing she wanted to capture the excitement of graduation and the beauty of the University of San Diego campus.

The first pictures I ever took of Austin, he was only a few hours old. His mom and I joke that I was in the room when Austin wasn’t born. He was an emergency C-section, and I got kicked out at the last minute, but only after several hours of labor and pushing . . . so many that I missed teaching the first day of school that September of 2001. (The week just got more interesting and memorable from there.)

Some friendships stretch across decades, and photographing Jennifer Sanchez’s family was such a sweet reminder of how time flies.

Sofia grew up in California, and even though life took her family elsewhere, the beach still feels like home.

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is getting to witness young people stepping into their next chapter with excitement and ambition.

Allyson and her team met up with me at Balboa Park for a fun headshot session. I loved getting to know them as we wandered around the park enjoying the various backgrounds.

Daniel and Melissa were taking selfies on the sandy shores of Coronado Beach when a random stranger offered to snap a quick photo with their phone.

Ray’s senior session was such a blast! She showed up with dramatic red hair and an easygoing energy that made the whole shoot feel effortless.

Some love stories just feel meant to be. Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing John and Jill’s engagement, and it was one for the books!

Last April, I had the joy of photographing Michael and beautiful Jessica’s engagement session on Coronado. Fast forward almost a year, and they reached out with the most exciting news—they’re expecting twins! They don’t know yet if they’re having boys, girls, or one of each, but their excitement (and mine!) is off the charts.
