There are certain family sessions you don’t forget, and the first session I did with the Hicks family is one. It was just Stacy, her husband Mack, and their toddler daughter Eloise, and we were hiding from the sun on a cloudless day at their home on La Jolla Shores.
Hanna and her family returned to the Del exactly five years after she and her husband honeymooned there. They had a COVID wedding . . . an intimate ceremony at Sunset Cliffs, small and beautiful. This visit to the Del was a whole different story! They’ve added two beautiful girls to their family.
Active-duty military, Tiavonna has traveled far and wide, calling many cities home along the way. Her daughter Brielle was even born in Japan! But San Diego still has her heart.
The H family and I have made it a tradition to meet up each fall during the kids’ fall break and spend an hour making memories. We first met at the Hotel Del five years ago, and we’ve explored Balboa Park, Crystal Pier, and more.
Zyan, Sanam’s three-year-old little boy, is really into animals right now, so their family traveled all the way from San Antonio to San Diego for their first vacation as a family of three.
I’ll admit: when the sky gets lively, I get a bit giddy. That evening had it all—puffy clouds, a colorful sunset, and a dazzling full rainbow arching over the waves. As if that wasn’t magical enough, the kids found a big, perfectly intact seashell on the shore during our shoot.

Of all the La Jolla beaches, Windansea is my favorite, so when Nalinie and Sanjit, visitors from Toronto, Canada, asked for a recommendation for their babymoon, I confidently recommended it. Windansea is great for shorter sessions, and the sunsets there are gorgeous.
When her parents flew in from Dallas, Kim surprised her mom with an entire weekend of 80th birthday celebrations, ending with the grand finale on the beach . . . a photo session for the whole family! Kim said that having these precious moments professionally captured was the perfect way to end their special time together.
Abigail and her family came to San Diego from Colorado to visit her best friend and the children’s godmother. They wanted a beach theme for their yearly photo session this time, squeezing it in between adventures to Legoland and Sea World. Even thought they were staying in North County, they agreed to my favorite location, the Hotel del Coronado.
