It’s not every day the dad is the one who books the photo session, but that’s exactly how this one came about! These Texans from Austin were planning a California getaway and invited Lauren’s parents to join, since her mom had been “trying to get to California since the 7th grade.”
Lauren’s husband had the brilliant idea to schedule their annual family session while they were here in San Diego . . . and include the grandparents.
When I arrived at Crystal Pier, three little princesses in white greeted me, full of energy and giggles. Getting all three in one photo was no small task (even lollipops couldn’t convince the youngest!), but we finally got the shot we needed before heading down to the shore.
What I’ll never forget about that night was the sky. There were soft clouds, glowing light, and shimmering reflections everywhere I looked. The tide was super low, and opportunities were everywhere. Lauren told me afterward, “These pictures are so precious to us because of the ones with my parents and my children together. My parents have had recent health diagnoses, and we’re not sure how it will affect their mobility. It’s incredibly meaningful to have these photos of them on the beach, one of their favorite places.”
