Some love stories just feel meant to be. Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing John and Jill’s engagement, and it was one for the books! John had been planning this moment since early December, carefully orchestrating every detail of the surprise. The weather, however, had its own plans. The entire drive to the beach was misty, with a steady drizzle making me wonder if we’d have to break out umbrellas. But as if on cue, just when it was time for the big moment, the marine layer pulled back just enough for the sun to peek through. It was like the sky itself was celebrating with them. Their story is one of friendship turned forever. They met at college, where they started as friends and then realized they were meant for more than just friendship. Fast forward 3.5 years, and here we are—capturing the start of their next adventure together.
Now, I’ve seen a lot of proposals, but Jill’s reaction was next-level. She was exuberant, over-the-moon excited, and absolutely radiant—exactly what every future groom dreams of seeing when he pops the question. And as if the magic of the moment wasn’t enough, she also happens to look exactly like Jennifer Aniston. (John, well done, my friend.) It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do—capturing real, joyful connections and preserving them for years to come.
