As part of my #clientseyeview series, Teri took time to give us a glimpse behind the scenes of her family’s session in Encinitas.
Q. What prompted you to schedule a photography session during your stay in San Diego?
A. This was our first vacation to San Diego and we LOVED IT!! Our family typically travels to Carolina or Florida beaches, but we decided to check out the west coast. The weather, beaches and delicious food were amazing! As my kids have gotten older, it makes it more and more challenging to schedule a vacation together. I thought it would be fun to mark this special time with family photos which were relaxed and in a beautiful, natural setting.
Q. What concerns did you face going into this session?
A. I wanted to keep our clothes casual and light-hearted, but still matching one another. The boys were like herding cats to accomplish even that! My daughter loves bright colors, so making her the splash of brightness in her red sundress made sense (and also made her the center of attention as usual). My biggest worry was that my youngest wouldn’t adjust to the time change well and would be too tired. She was awesome though and had so much fun!
Q. What is a favorite memory you have of your photo session?
A. I didn’t really warn anyone that they would most likely be getting wet during the session. We had some great moments of “surprise” which Amy captured beautifully as we all got progressively wetter. There were also great moments of my family just goofing around – everything from jumps to cartwheels to spontaneous chases on the beach.
Q. What is a favorite image from your session?
A. It’s hard to pick a favorite image, but I truly love the image of us holding hands watching as the light fades over the ocean. It makes me think of how we are all connected through one another for a lifetime and beyond.
Q. How will you be using your images?
A. I will be using these images in so many ways. I am planning a family picture wall which will have a family picture framed in the center with some of the individual and other combinations hung around. I also plan to give some of the prints as gifts and will make an album.
