Heather’s husband proposed on a San Diego beach 20 years ago this summer. This trip brought the whole family back to San Diego — except now there are kids, and the kids are getting older, and Heather wasn’t sure how many more chances she’d have to get everyone together in one place.
She describes her family in three words: genuine, rooted, busy. That last one checks out. They’re a Midwest family, so the beach is a rare treat, and they packed San Diego full. Her oldest son and husband golfed Torrey Pines (a bucket-list item), they hiked Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, kayaked in La Jolla, caught a Padres game, and ate their way through Little Italy and Old Town.
Heather wanted family pictures at the beach, plain and simple — it’s her favorite place. The shots she liked best were the ones of everyone walking together along the shoreline. “These are exactly what I was hoping for,” she said.
