Zachary (with the big blue eyes) was born with a severe heart defect (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome) that has required many surgeries, hospitalizations, procedures . . . the list goes on. Before I met his family, I knew Zachary was a “heart baby” and that he had had other medical issues, as well – including a stroke, gallbladder surgery, a bad bang to the head from a fall – so I was prepared for a low-key photo session this time. NOT so! Zachary and his big brother Logan both zoomed around the beach, full of life and fun!
Zachary is doing well and excels in school and other activities. He has his own team, Zachary’s Heart, for next week’s Walk with the Heart of a Child event for the Children’s Heart Foundation. Linda, Zachary’s mom, sent me Zachary’s whole story. It’s an amazing tale of faith, perseverance, and courage.
