Some friendships stretch across decades, and photographing Jennifer Sanchez’s family was such a sweet reminder of how time flies. We first met in Bible class way back in 1990 (hard to believe!), and I remember discussing hair care products before Mrs. Buegge’s lecture on the Book of Acts. Today, Jennifer blesses many through her leadership in the Women’s Ministry at Shadow Mountain Community Church, where her husband also leads the Men’s Ministry. A few years ago we did a Sweet Sixteen session for her daughter Noelle, and when she reached out again, I was so honored to help her capture this special season in her family.
Jennifer mentioned they’d actually never had professional family photos done—and with Noelle now 19, it felt like the right time. Between a college send-off, a 25th wedding anniversary, and Jennifer’s milestone birthday, this was a moment worth preserving.
One of Jennifer’s favorite images from our session is a candid shot of the whole family walking hand-in-hand on the shore. It reflects the closeness they share, and the soft color palette they wore (thank you, Style Guide!) makes the image striking.
The Sanchez family is joyful, united, and strong. That came through during our session, for sure. We even had a little unexpected fun when a wave took us by surprise. It was the kind of moment that turns into a lasting memory. At one point, Jennifer was smiling so much that her oldest turned to her and said, “You are loving this, Mom, aren’t you?” And she truly was.
Jennifer, thank you for trusting me with this moment. It was such a blessing to witness and celebrate the beautiful family God has grown through you and Emmanuel.
