I just think this is the perfect session for a Thanksgiving-week blog!

I just think this is the perfect session for a Thanksgiving-week blog!

This young dad had the perfect idea for his daughter’s birthday gift . . . a beach photo session during their stay in San Diego. She arrived as beautiful as could be, and while we concentrated on getting beautiful birthday portraits, Dad got in on the action as well, and I loved the dad-and-daughter shots!

I’m playing catch up with blogging right now because it’s portrait season, but I can’t wait any longer to put this beautiful session online. I just loved how this gorgeous mama styled everyone. Perfection!!

When Kimber contacted me for a session, I knew her name sounded familiar! I searched my old emails, and there it was . . . her family had used our family’s babysitting agency, Sitterwise, several years ago! It was great to get to meet Kimber and her family in person after working with them years before, and I wondered if she had found me through Sitterwise. Nope! She just did an old-fashioned Google search for beach photography. It was fun to share the connection with her as we ran around beautiful Coronado beach and made some sweet memories for her family. It’s a small world!

If you follow my Instagram, you already know how I loved getting to photograph this little girl! She was sweet, rambunctious, and adorable, and although her crazy antics kept me completely ON MY TOES the entire session, her bright smiles lit up the beach that night! From careening around the shiny shore to jumping on top of a used-to-be-sandcastle, with two hands full of mud, she was filled with joy and curiosity – just like a toddler should be.

Mallory came all the way from Michigan for her senior session on Coronado beach, and she brought her family to join in the fun. The bright and clear day was the perfect backdrop for her fresh, authentic personality. She was really fun to work with!

Colton has had a tough year, but he’s come through it strong.

Sisters are pretty amazing people, and although this duo has a big age difference, can’t you feel the love in these photos? It’s clear that there’s a lifetime of friendship ahead of them.

This family and I go way, way back! Another in my 2018 string of former students, Dianna was in my English class once upon a time, and Jackie was my co-worker at the school. The adults in this family are so genuine, sweet, and funny, and their love for their Lord shows in their words and actions. The children, from my experience with them on the beach, are growing up in the very same direction. A beautiful family, inside and out, and such a privilege to photograph!

I court disaster a LOT, taking expensive camera gear and priceless clients into the churning waves in order to get the reflection shots I adore. Most of the time it works out fine, but this time . . . not so much! This session ended abruptly when a rogue wave took out one of my clients (and her iPhone) and drenched us all – along with pretty much everyone else on the beach that day! Fortunately, it was close to sunset, my gear survived, we got some great images before the wave craziness, and my clients were great, gracious people. Check out this beautiful vacationing family, full of good looks and personality!

Love that pink sky on an active evening chasing adorable twin toddlers!!
