Last fall, I had the pleasure of photographing Dyna and Kevin Jones of BLISS Senior Care. They have founded a non-profit program to provide free care to low-income seniors, and it is changing the lives of some very special people in our community.
As the next in my series of client-feature blog posts, I asked the Joneses about their photoshoot, and here’s how they described it:
Q. What concerns did you face going into your session?
A. The weather on the day of our photo session was threatening rain, but between the beautiful backdrop of the Hotel Del Coronado and the beach, matched with Amy’s talent, we were able to structure the sequence of photos and backdrops based on the lighting. Late day lighting proved to make such a great result in the final package.
Q. What is a favorite memory you have of your photo session?
A. We really had fun with the shoot. We have never done a professional photo shoot outside of a studio, and the way Amy ran us through the settings, we really had fun. Instead of our son being the only child, my wife and I were having fun like kids too, posing, outrunning the waves, and just goofing off while Amy caught our candid, fun moments. Although Amy is structured for the shots, it didn’t feel structured and was really fun.
Q. Describe a favorite image from your session? Why is it your favorite?
A. It’s hard to really pick a favorite image, but my favorite family shots are of us holding hands and running from the waves and lifting our son as the water came up to us.
Q. What did you do (or do you plan to do) with your images? Album, canvas, wall display, holiday cards, etc?
A. Our original plan was to get photos for Christmas cards, but the resulting package was so nice that we have wall displays, created an album, and my wife and I are able to utilize the single photos for our professional profile images.
Dyna and Kevin have a noble mission. As James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” You can find out more about BLISS care and provide help for seniors in need HERE.
