Pandemic Puppy Parables III

We got new PUPPY PICTURES! Marley is getting so big, and we officially get to meet him on July 4. Here are some photos our friend and breeder Jessi sent us from Kansas over the last few weeks. First, Marley with his siblings, and then Marley exploring their Kansas farm. (Did you miss my first posts? Check them out here: PPPI & PPPII)

Last night on Father’s Day we watched “Marley & Me.” We had sworn off that movie because we knew the Marley in the movie was a very naughty dog. We had a moment of weakness and decided to just watch it anyway. Okay — we LOVED that movie! That Marley just needed Zak George to whip him into shape, maybe? Step One: Put a leash on that dog!

Marley & Me | Worst Dog Ever

Marley & Me | Worst Dog Ever

This movie had some great quotes! Remind me of these in like six months:

Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day. It is amazing how much love and laughter they bring into our lives and even how much closer we become with each other because of them.

A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.

A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.

We are unashamedly dog-crazed right now, and my emotionally-intelligent child remarked this morning that we may have talked too much about our new puppy at the Father’s Day party yesterday and we need to be considerate of others who may not feel equally enthused. He is the worst though. He has a little song about Marley that he sings constantly (even though he claims not to enjoy singing or having anyone ever hear him sing), and he has been watching training videos daily and hounding me (no pun intended) to buy Marley a custom collar on Etsy. He picked out the color. Marley the Aussalier | Dog Potty Spot The only person who is potentially MORE excited is Rod, who has Marley photos saved to his desktop and has spent every spare moment this last week making Marley a special potty area in the backyard. It is now complete with a fire hydrant. 😂 Marley the Aussalier | Dog Potty Spot Marley the Aussalier | Dog Potty Spot Our Father’s Day was MADE when Jessi posted brand new photos of Marley and his siblings online.
