Wedding Party in Jewel Tones Celebrate the Bride and Groom's Kiss

From Drama Club to “I Do”: Sascha & Daniel’s Love Story

Where to start with this story? Sascha and Daniel’s wedding was more than a ceremony—it was a joyful, faith-filled celebration of the life God has planned for them . . . a life of serving Him, growing together, and building a family rooted in love. This wedding was especially dear to my heart. Sascha’s family has been part of our family’s story for more than twenty years, and watching her grow into the incredible woman she is today has been such a gift. From childhood adventures to deep conversations about life and faith, she and my daughter Lissa have been close friends since they were little girls.

I remember Sascha as a tiny thing with a face full of sparkles, then as a fearless homeschooled biker taking on the streets and fields of San Diego while other kids sat in classrooms. She and Lissa twirled worship flags and wore flower crowns on the shore, enjoyed elaborate tea parties, and memorized the cup song in harmony. Then came college, new responsibilities, and the season of finding a life partner—one God had been preparing just for her.

Sascha and Daniel’s story began long before they realized it. They met in junior high through their homeschool drama club, Passion for the Arts, where they were cast together in The Prince and the Pauper. At the time, it was just another play, another fun memory. But Daniel and Sascha’s brother Noah got to be good friends, and looking back, that show was the very first act of this love story.

Years passed, and their lives crossed naturally—family gatherings, mutual friendships, shared moments. But it wasn’t until Sascha’s 21st birthday party, a summer night filled with joy and homecomings, that everything changed.

Enter Uncle Jason.

Though not a blood relative, Uncle Jason is a brother in Christ and one of Sascha’s mom Everin’s oldest friends, and he has watched the Pezdek kids grow up—always showing up for birthdays and graduations to cheer them on (or meddle a bit, depending on the situation).

True to form, Uncle Jason decided it was time for a little matchmaking. Spotting Daniel at the party, he gave him an impromptu Bible quiz. Apparently, Daniel passed the test, because before long, Uncle Jason was not-so-subtly nudging him toward Sascha.

A week later and with some encouragement from Noah, Daniel took the leap. One date turned into two, then three, and for the first time, Sascha didn’t feel the urge to call it quits after a couple of outings. Something about Daniel was different—something felt right. By the next summer, Daniel knew. He planned a proposal in a place that held Sascha’s heart: The Narrows in Zion Park, a backdrop of beauty and meaning. With the towering cliffs and flowing waters surrounding them, he asked Sascha to be his help-meet, his partner in life and faith. And she said yes.

Sascha and Daniel’s wedding was filled with the same deep sense of purpose and joy that has marked their journey together. They chose First Baptist Church of Lemon Grove, the very place where they first met all those years ago in drama club. They stood in the same room where they had once played out a childhood story—and this time, they wrote a new one.

And of course, Uncle Jason officiated. Because who better to seal the deal than the man who got the ball rolling in the first place?

Their wedding was filled with the love and support of the people who had poured into their lives—Sunday school teachers, homeschool mentors, lifelong friends, and godly church members. Some guests, in spite of very recent tragedies, set aside their own grief to honor the newlyweds, making Sascha’s day even more meaningful through their presence.

Beyond just celebrating, everyone pitched in. Family and friends worked together to set up and decorate and stayed behind to clean up, making the day a true labor of love. The memories that were made through working together will be just another proof of the love and faithfulness that have surrounded Sascha and Daniel throughout their journey. The support of their family and friends is not just spoken, but lived out in action.
