Remember this amazing momma and her little guy’s super-fast entry into the world? Well, here is little Gage, age one week. It was wonderful to see Kristi and family again. Gage is a little sweetheart and did such a great job of sleeping for us! 
Oh, how I LOVE birth photography! What an experience, each time, to see a brand new little person welcomed into the grateful arms of his parents. Each birth experience is different, and this was my absolute shortest birth story to date! Kristi let me know she was in labor at 7:42pm. I left for the hospital at 8:11pm, and when I got there just before 9:00, she was already pushing! Little Gage William was born naturally at 9:27, without any pain medicine. Kristi is AMAZING. Wow. (Baby is super sweet and cute, too! Just wait till you see the newborn photos!) 
What a joy to watch these two get married! It was an international affair, with lots of guests flying in from Thailand, and with Thai elements incorporated into the ceremony. Ryan’s love of sailing also played a key role in the decor and colors, and we created their bridal images right on a sailboat in San Diego Bay with San Diego Sailing Tours. Perfection! 
This family combined senior portraits with a family session on Coronado, featuring their two totally different but absolutely stunning model-type daughters and energetic younger son.
IT’S A BOY!! My favorite image from this birth story is actually not of the baby at all, but of his bigger-than-life, red-headed brother, who had been kept in suspense about the baby’s sex just like the rest of us. Definitely click here to see Brandon find out he has a BROTHER! I’m not a videographer, so the focus is questionable, but the emotion is all there. Brandon was ONE HAPPY DUDE.
I think when I ponder having fun during a photo session, this family will always come to mind. They wore great clothes and looked sharp, but this session was not about how they looked. It was about how they related to one another, and there was just SO MUCH LOVE. The dainty baby girl . . . the bespectacled middle brother . . . the “big” five-year-old (who shares his birthday with MY five-year-old, by the way) . . . all with their wonderfully adored loveys. The dad for whom chasing the kids and throwing the kids in the air and snuggling the kids was so very natural. The mama so chill about the whole crazy kids+sand situation. The grandparents making funny faces over my shoulder. I loved them all. On this last day of school, this family definitely gets an A+.
When I interviewed Amy last year and she joined the Marion’s Childcare team, I was enthralled with her stories of being a professional ballerina and also traveling to Europe to work as an au pair. Little did I know that her next exciting story would include wedding bells! Seven years ago on January 2, Amy began wearing a purity ring, and on January 2 of this year, during the fireworks at Disneyland, her fiance Jim replaced it with a beautiful diamond. In preparation for their wedding coming up in August, we met on Coronado for their engagement session. It was great to meet Jim, and the Sandcastle Man’s Cinderella Castle was perfect for a ring shot!
Congratulations to Garrett on his graduation! We combined a senior session with some fun sibling shots during our session on Coronado last month. Such a good-looking family!
One super-sweet and smiley big sister + one wild-and-crazy, adorable little sister + mom in an awesome red dress + dad who was up for anything = one of my favorite sessions of the year! I hope to see this great family from Amarillo, Texas, again soon!
I’m not really an animal person. I didn’t have them growing up, I didn’t have great experiences with other people’s animals (cats made me sneeze, dogs had no sense of personal space), and I have had no desire to jump into the dog-vortex that has begun to envelop many of my friends recently (and especially my sister, the crazy dog photographer). That said, my friends’ new little Goldendoodle puppy Lucy is super, duper cute. I admit it.
This New Jersey family was a pleasure to work with, and their girls – one a lovely 14-year-old and the other a fiesty two-year-old – were so much fun to photograph! It was neat to see the special bond between the older daughter and her baby sister. <3
