Fun Family Photography at San Diego Crystal Pier Beach
This family told me they wanted playful, fun pictures. Sounds like a plan!!

This family from Canada was full of boys and full of fun!

I just love a smattering of clouds. A sky like this is perfect – the clouds threaten to cover up the sun, but it peaks through and makes the sky blue and golden. Add an adorable family and . . . <3

Caitlyn did such a great job modeling for her senior portrait session on Coronado a few weeks ago! I love the variety in her outfits and especially the hat!

Rebekah and Brandon tied the knot at beautiful Paradise Point Resort this past weekend, and Heather Starr and I enjoyed photographing the festivites! Since Rebekah’s dad is a floral designer with over 30 years of experience, I had a hunch that there would be some flowers going on at this wedding. I was right!!
It’s only been about 48 hours since the end of Rebekah and Brandon’s wedding, but a very important person, Rebekah’s sister Sarah, couldn’t be there, so I thought it would be nice to have an extra-long sneak-peek for her benefit. Sarah actually sent a long-distance Matron-of-Honor toast via video! You can see Rebekah’s reactions below.

I love the peaceful, fun feel of this family’s session! There was so much love and laughter during that hour on the beach!

Just over a year ago, I got to witness this little guy making his entrance into the world! It was pretty great to see how he has grown and to photograph his family for his one-year session. The weather and tides cooperated amazingly – such a beautiful evening on Coronado!!

At the beginning of June, just before little Atticus and his family went to New York for more intensive treatments for his Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, Melanie Monroe Photography and I had the chance to capture them on vacation here in San Diego. This is an incredible family with four amazing kiddos. Please consider helping Atticus’s family with the harrowing expenses that accompany Atticus’s treatment and moving a family of six (including a four-month-old) to New York. Most of all, please pray that Atticus’s little body will respond to the treatment and that he will be healed.

The beautiful and accomplished Karen Bates (co-founder of Military Home Loans) is launching a new business, and we worked together recently to make some headshots for her new web site. Karen wanted custom photos for her new training business, Juggling with Fire, so we brainstormed for fire-themed ideas and were really pleased with the results! The s’mores fire pits at the beautiful Hotel del Coronado made the perfect venue for our session. We started out with some poses by the water and then joined Karen’s family and friends for s’mores.

As I contemplated a Father’s Day blog and started going through my recent sessions to find these portraits of fathers, I realized how many different kinds of dads there are . . . In the last year I’ve photographed new dads, dads of toddlers, military dads prepping for deployment, stay-at-home dads, work-from-home dads, work-at-work dads, goofy dads, serious dads, dads-of-one, dads-of-six, dads of kids with special needs, and the dad of a child battling cancer. Common denominator – these dads sure love their kids, and their kids know it. Happy Father’s Day to all the good dads!
