I just love this family! The children are so fun-loving and expressive, and they had a great time on the beach and were so sad when the sun was gone and our session was over. Big sister asked me for another playdate another time. I’m calling that a win!
It’s not easy to photograph 31 people in a single session (especially including toddlers!), but Heather Starr Photography and I used teamwork to take on the challenge.
Last week, I said “see you later” to some wonderful family friends, who are relocating to Virginia. They are important in so many ways, but it is significant that they are actually the very FIRST family I ever photographed on the beach at the Hotel del Coronado – way back in November of 2009, when I was just getting started in photography. Looking back, it seems I haven’t changed much . . . still drenching my clients seven years later! THEY have changed, though! Their tiny boys are a big kids now, and their 6-year-old girl just turned 13! I’m so glad I had this chance to see Keri, Mike, Rylee, Zach, and Colby again and make some special images of them enjoying one of their favorite spots in San Diego. As they reach their new home in Virginia today, my thoughts and prayers are with them for many wonderful new adventures.
When it comes to portrait photography, sometimes the dads are a little . . . hesitant. Sometimes they think they’ll be done before the kids are. Sometimes they don’t like
It had been several weeks since I visited Crystal Pier, and I was delighted to see it in prime condition for photography! Beautiful light, clean sand, low tide, and gorgeous clients . . . what more could I ask for?
This is the third time I’ve photographed Jonathan, and every time, I count it a privilege! Our session in Little Italy had lots of color and variety, and Jonathan’s clothing choices were perfect for the location. Congrats on your upcoming graduation, Jonathan!
Everything came together so beautifully for Min & James’s engagement session, you’d think it was right out of a storybook. That’s appropriate since both of them are working on PhDs in English Literature! I loved this session from start to finish, from Min’s beautiful gown to the flowers in her hair to the gorgeous just-right cloud cover and sunset.
Thirteen years ago, an adorable little flower girl walked down the aisle at my wedding. A few weeks ago, I got to photograph that little girl, all grown up into a beautiful high school senior. Her outer beauty is obvious, but in the short time I had to spend with her at her session, I was struck by her humility, grace, and sweetness even more. How exciting to see what amazing things God has planned for her. (Check my Facebook page for her flower girl photo. :))
Lauren and JR’s Great-Gatsby-style wedding was full of pomp and circumstance, and I just loved attending and having a front-row seat for the beautiful ceremony which engaged all the senses. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Del Mar was the perfect venue for the service, and Lauren’s dad Richard filled it with amazing bouquets which were echoed in the reception hall.
