Extended Family on the Beach Photos

Rainy Day Beach Photo Session | Extended Family Adventures

San Diego photography is usually a slam dunk in terms of weather, but not this time! The weather was all over the place that December week, from sunny to rainy to beautiful puffy white clouds. This extended family hadn’t been together in some time due to Covid, so we were determined to do their Pacific Beach session, rain or shine! Well, it was beautiful and rainy, both!

San Diego Extended Family Portraits

Family Photography San Diego | Extended Family Portraits on Coronado Beach

San Diego photography makes a great birthday gift! More than anything, this grandmother wanted new extended family portraits for her 70th birthday. Her family had vacationed in Washington, DC, a few years ago for Grandpa’s birthday, and she loved the images so much that she had a list of shots she wanted for her own birthday when the family gathered in San Diego. The Hotel del Coronado holds special significance for them, and I was thrilled to be able to commemorate the occasion with all three generations—especially their fun trio of cousins)!

Babymoon Photography San Diego

Professional Photographers in San Diego | Babymoon at the Del

A photography session was the perfect way to remember Joshua and Amanda’s babymoon at the Hotel del Coronado. They are still a few months out from their due date, so we mixed up the maternity and “regular couple” poses and Amanda brought a couple of dresses for variety. My favorite shot from this session was the long-exposure (scroll to the end!).

Baby and Mother on the Beach

Photographer San Diego | Baby’s First Trip to the Hotel del Coronado

San Diego Photography was a good choice of activities for Oakleigh and her family, since it was their baby boy’s first trip to the Hotel del Coronado. I loved his tiny bowtie, and he did great with our poses on the grass and out on the beach. It was a perfect sunset with a gorgeous, glassy shore. I couldn’t help but request a twirly-kiss shot (see below), so I ended up holding the sweet boy and photographing his parents at the same time . . . trying to get as close to the ground as possible. Must have been quite a sight! 😂 I sure hope to see this family again soon and watch this little one grow!

San Diego Photography Crystal Pier

Photographers San Diego | Sweet Sixteen Portraits at Crystal Pier

San Diego Photography isn’t just for seniors! What a fun idea for a sixteenth birthday celebration . . . getting the friends together, dressing up, and then enjoying a sunset session on the beach. N and her two friends and classmates R and T (and her baby sister, too!) made some fun memories on one of the most beautiful days of February in San Diego. It looked and felt just like summertime!

Photographer San Diego | Family Portraits Olivenhain Town Hall

San Diego Photography at Olivenhain Town Hall was the pre-Christmas tree selection activity for this North County family. They had a session there when their children were very young, and now that their son is a senior and getting ready to head off to college, it was time for another round of portraits. We got lots of family images, plus plenty of fun single shots of the teens.

Photography San Diego

Photography San Diego | Hotel Del Wedding Formals Monique & Jeremy

Jeremy and Monique said their vows at the courthouse and then enjoyed a gorgeous, unforgettable February sunset at the Hotel Del Coronado! Monique and Jeremy decided to tie the knot just before Valentine’s Day, and God blessed their special weekend with unusually beautiful weather for this time of year . . . clear skies and warm temperatures that made us think of summer!

Senior Portraits San Diego

Photographer San Diego | Monique’s January Senior Photo Session

San Diego Photography in January looks like this! Monique’s senior session was a two-location extravaganza, with half our shooting time in East County at Steele Canyon Bridge and the other half at Windansea Beach in La Jolla. It was so nice to get to know Monique and her parents and pups! It turned out we have a lot in common, including our Alma Mater, and it was fun comparing notes.

Extended Family Photography San Diego

Kim and her family were celebrating the holidays . . . really special ones, when her daughter and new husband were in town and her son and daughter-in-law’s baby—the very first grand-baby—was just old enough to enjoy playing with all the boxes on Christmas morning. We grabbed an hour of their precious time together and headed to Big Rock Park(https://www.cityofsanteeca.gov/our-city/parks-civic-center-rooms/big-rock-park-copy) in Santee, where the sun peaked over the hill and gave the fall foliage a warm glow for their extended family portraits(https://amygrayphotography.com/gallery/extended-family/).

Balboa Park Senior Photos

Sammie’s Senior Photos at Balboa Park

The first photos I ever took of Sammie, she and my daughter Lissa were at my kitchen table. Lissa was sporting a giant red Ariel wig, and the two of them were enjoying a summer playdate, decorating a batch of sugar cookies. I’ve photographed Sammie and her family many times since then, and she’s grown up into a beautiful young woman! Her most recent photos at Balboa Park were a combination family session and senior session . . . oh and some prom pictures, too, since it was the same night! Those Coulters are efficient!

Adoption Celebration Session

Family Adoption Celebration at Crystal Pier

We rescheduled the C family’s adoption celebration photo session a few times due to sickness and weather, but it was sure worth it! The children were healthy and happy, and Crystal Pier was sparkling God’s favor as we commemorated little J’s official welcome to the family.

This Idaho family was vacationing in San Diego last fall, and Crystal Pier was the perfect spot for their family portraits. Andie’s guys were hilarious with each other, and nobody made a fuss about heading out to sea in their dress clothes. Loved this family!
