Coronado Elopement Photography | Katie & Justin Say I Do
Katie and Justin’s elopement was a gorgeous Coronado adventure, starting at Spreckels Park, continuing on the 904 bus, and ending on Coronado beach!

When Elaine booked her session, she wrote in the comments, “The girls are easy . . . they grew up in front of the camera.” Okay, you’re not kidding! What MODELS they were, with all the expressions and gorgeous poses! And why did they grow up in front of the camera, you ask? Because Elaine is a photographer herself! It’s always such an honor to be chosen to photograph another photographer’s family. If you’re in the Gilbert, Arizona, area and need portraits, be sure to look up Elaine Kessler Photography!

My friend Amy and her husband and kids come back to San Diego each year to see family, and, lately, to do senior photos at the beach! Last year I got to photograph the whole extended family and especially Luke’s older sister Mia, and this time it was Luke’s turn. An accomplished violinist and pianist, Luke has a bright future ahead in music. We incorporated his violin into his senior portraits and leaned into the formal look for his auditions, and then he switched to shorts for some relaxed beach images at the end.

I was thrilled to hear from Dan’s family again this year! The last time I photographed them, their grandson was just a year old, and we had time constraints that meant our session needed to be early in the day. It was fine and we made the most of it, but oh my—I love a sunset session when it’s possible!! Four years is a long time when you’re a little boy, and this guy grew right up into an adorable kindergartner, ready for all the dad-and-grandpa fun we could throw at him. I really loved that night on the beach.
Stephanie and her family were visiting from New Jersey and chose to plan family portraits as a fun activity during their time on Coronado at the Hotel Del. Isabella is a senior, so we had a dual focus of getting great family portraits AND senior photos.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Loved the weather, loved the styling, and LOVED that these awesome and chill parents didn’t panic when baby boy wasn’t super-duper excited about having his picture taken at 10:00pm Central Time. They rolled with it, they flexed, and we made so many fun memories and beautiful family portraits featuring Coronado’s gorgeous summer light, sparkling sand, and glistening waves.

Teresa, whose daughter and two friends were graduating from USD, contacted me as a referral from Paige Day Photography up in the Bay Area. As she explained what she was looking for and also her history with photography, I understood that this would not be “just any session.” Teresa’s late husband, Winston Hendrickson, was one of the architects of Adobe’s photography products, Photoshop and Lightroom, and is listed in the Photoshop Hall of Fame. I was appropriately intimidated—and honored—to have Teresa ask me to take these important milestone photos for this beautiful trio of roommates! We started on campus at USD and then caravaned over to Windansea Beach in La Jolla to wind up the session with a little high tide ocean spray.

I first met Marney at her engagement session last year, and Doug is an old friend from church. I loved being a part of their special day at Julian Station, where they tied the knot among family and friends, with lots of rustic charm.

A new website meant it was time also time for a new round of headshots and team images for this commercial real estate firm. We ended up just a few miles from their office in Little Italy, which includes a variety of urban looks, perfect for this team’s vibe.

This San Diego mechanical engineering firm had grown by leaps and bounds since their last set of headshots, and I was happy to go to their location and create these beautifully natural-lit headshots in the vestibule of their office complex. Even on a rainy day (which this most certainly was), the window light was gorgeous and made this professional group look their best.

In 1911, a parcel of land in San Diego came free with the purchase of an encyclopedia set.

As my own daughter graduates this year, I have been blessed to do senior portraits for many of her friends who are the same age. Abbi is a friend from church and was in my Sunday school class back in elementary school! She has been active on the worship team throughout high school and is graduating as the salutatorian of her class before heading off to college at Grand Canyon University. Congratulations, Abbi!!
