As my own daughter graduates this year, I have been blessed to do senior portraits for many of her friends who are the same age. Abbi is a friend from church and was in my Sunday school class back in elementary school! She has been active on the worship team throughout high school and is graduating as the salutatorian of her class before heading off to college at Grand Canyon University. Congratulations, Abbi!!

Lia’s family was staying at the Hotel del Coronado resort when they decided a family photo session would be a great way to remember their time there. What a wonderful family. See those boys’ open, authentic, joy-filled faces? That’s them! And they get it from Mom & Dad. With such cooperative subjects, we whipped through so many poses. The favorites below aren’t even half of the gallery. Bonus: Lia’s sweet Google Review made me tear up. I love my job.

Faith and her family know how to celebrate, and they are wonderful examples for living life to its fullest . . . wringing every little bit of joy out of every stage! Faith’s senior year has been full of ASB activities, Volleyball, Track & Field, college tours, and much more. She brings enthusiasm, kindness, and her faithful friendship to every situation, and I’m excited to see what’s next in God’s plan for her life!

Bree did an impeccable job of dressing her family for this beach session, and the light and tides at Crystal Pier were gorgeous. It’s always an adventure when you mix kids and sand with wind and water, and we had extreme adventures with these enthusiastic boy/girl twins! Does everything always go as planned during a photo session with preschoolers? No! Do we still get great photos? YES! Precious and precocious, little ones are only this age once, and capture them, we will! I love this family and the way they love each other, and I can’t wait to see them again soon!

Presdio Park was the perfect location for Michaela’s senior portraits, and she and her mom Terri and I enjoyed a girls’ evening out, following up the session with a trip to Old Town’s Miguel’s Cosina for some of their famous queso! Michaela graduates from Christian High School (my alma mater!) next month, and then she’ll head to Design Institute of San Diego to pursue a degree in interior design. As an accomplished pianist, a soprano in the Shadow Mountain Community Church Choir, and a valued player on the school tennis team, Michaela has a maturity beyond her years, and I can’t wait to see what God has planned for her in the next chapter of her life.

Senior Portrait photography in San Diego is especially fun, because we can go from a grassy field with big trees to the rushing waters of the La Jolla shoreline in just a few minutes . . . plenty of time to enjoy the best light of the day in both spots. For Nina’s senior session, we started at Kate Sessions Park and then headed down to Windansea Beach to watch the sunset.
I’ve been photographing Nina and her family since she was just a little one, and she has grown into a beautiful young woman like her mama, whose 18th birthday wishes for Nina said she’s “launching her joyous and commanding energy out into the world.” Congratulations on your birthday AND your graduation from high school, Nina!!

San Diego photography is usually a slam dunk in terms of weather, but not this time! The weather was all over the place that December week, from sunny to rainy to beautiful puffy white clouds. This extended family hadn’t been together in some time due to Covid, so we were determined to do their Pacific Beach session, rain or shine! Well, it was beautiful and rainy, both!

San Diego photography makes a great birthday gift! More than anything, this grandmother wanted new extended family portraits for her 70th birthday. Her family had vacationed in Washington, DC, a few years ago for Grandpa’s birthday, and she loved the images so much that she had a list of shots she wanted for her own birthday when the family gathered in San Diego. The Hotel del Coronado holds special significance for them, and I was thrilled to be able to commemorate the occasion with all three generations—especially their fun trio of cousins)!

A photography session was the perfect way to remember Joshua and Amanda’s babymoon at the Hotel del Coronado. They are still a few months out from their due date, so we mixed up the maternity and “regular couple” poses and Amanda brought a couple of dresses for variety. My favorite shot from this session was the long-exposure (scroll to the end!).

San Diego Photography was a good choice of activities for Oakleigh and her family, since it was their baby boy’s first trip to the Hotel del Coronado. I loved his tiny bowtie, and he did great with our poses on the grass and out on the beach. It was a perfect sunset with a gorgeous, glassy shore. I couldn’t help but request a twirly-kiss shot (see below), so I ended up holding the sweet boy and photographing his parents at the same time . . . trying to get as close to the ground as possible. Must have been quite a sight! 😂 I sure hope to see this family again soon and watch this little one grow!

San Diego Photography isn’t just for seniors! What a fun idea for a sixteenth birthday celebration . . . getting the friends together, dressing up, and then enjoying a sunset session on the beach. N and her two friends and classmates R and T (and her baby sister, too!) made some fun memories on one of the most beautiful days of February in San Diego. It looked and felt just like summertime!
