I first met Colter a few years ago in Little Italy, when we did a super fun session for his 9th birthday, and this time we met up at Balboa Park for another round to celebrate his 11th birthday! Colter is a natural model, and his red hair and freckles are a kick to photograph. Looking foward to seeing his family again soon for some beach portraits!
I really love a challenge. In this installment of “What Can You Get Done in Golden Hour,” we attempted (successfully!) to thoroughly photograph a family of EIGHT . . . and do a senior session at the same time! It really helps with the kids are adorable and cooperative and the senior is a natural model, and everything came together that March evening on the beach at the Hotel Del! Looking forward to seeing this family again soon!!
It was a privilege to help these San Diego locals capture their twins on the beach right in front of the Shore House on Coronado! Big sister was a wonderful model and helper, ready to do whatever I asked, and it was a perfect evening for reflection shots.
Traffic was a nightmare for this family on the way to their session on Del Mar beach, but we squeezed every drop of light out of the sun that evening!
Succulent plants are beautiful and unique, slow-growing but hardy and long-lasting . . . just like Moriah and Greg’s(https://www.sdlipservice.com/about) relationship. Moriah’s parents’ incredible succulent garden was the perfect setting for this big celebration, which occurred two years after they legally tied the knot during the Covid shutdown.

January is cold on the beach, and, this year, really stormy! So what is a San Diego beach photographer to do?
Answer: Avoid the beach at all costs and do something INDOORS! I got my business mastermind group together, and we made a day of refreshing our headshots. As self-employed entrepreneurs, it’s important to have fresh profile photos and website images regularly, and these winter months are the perfect time to do them. We hired a hair and makeup artist, my fellow photographer Liz came to help, everyone brought their favorite outfits, and I enjoyed using the natural light in my home to create these professional images.
Located on the rocky coast of the Pacific Ocean, San Diego is known for being one of the most beautiful cities in the United States. The city is bursting with sandy beaches, lush parks, and other unique locations loved by locals and tourists alike.
How to make a senior portrait session 100% more fun? Bring a friend! In this case, Jeremy brought his girlfriend, Mia, and we walked all over Little Italy for a variety of fun backgrounds and looks for the two of them and each of them separately. I always love chatting with my clients while we’re working together, and it was fun to hear about Jeremy’s plans to major in Christian Ministry at California Baptist University and Mia’s desire to become an elementary school teacher. They are the sweetest couple, and I’m excited to see how they impact the world in the years to come!
Amelia called me with a dual request . . . much-needed family portraits with her husband, three daughters, and her daughter’s boyfriend . . . AND surprise proposal coverage! Eric and Sabrina had been dating for some time, and he was ready to pop the question.
Hannah knew exactly what she wanted for her senior portraits, and she sent me inspiration photos that kept me reaching into my gear bag for infrequently-used equipment and into the recesses of my brain for fresh creativity! She and her sister are perfect models of the light academia aesthetic, and I got a crash course. I’m really proud of the results, and Hannah loves them too!
The W family moved to San Diego when both mom and dad were serving in the Navy, and they and the kids loved it enough to retire here! I really enjoyed getting to know this fun and loving crew, with their little cheerleading tumbler and kind and gracious teens. Also—I’m a big fan of the classic blue and beige color combo they chose for their session in Balboa Park.
