Meet Your Dermatologists

Dr. Shimomaye, board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined the practice in 1988. She received her undergraduate biology degree and medical degree at UCLA, completed a three-year internal medicine residency in Los Angeles, and a three-year dermatology residency at UC Irvine. She is especially interested in dermatologic surgery, including Mohs micrographic surgery, and general medical dermatology. Dr. Shimomaye is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at UCSD and an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

Dr. Rotunda joined the practice in 2001. Originally from Virginia, she received her undergraduate degree from Drew University and completed her medical education at Penn State College of Medicine and dermatology residency at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Rotunda enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients, treating both minor dermatologic conditions like warts and acne, and more significant diseases such as autoimmune skin disease and skin cancer. She is experienced with newer biologic medications for psoriasis and eczema as well as Mohs micrographic surgery.

Dr. Goldenberg received her undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her MD and a Master's in Clinical Research at UCSD, where she served as Chief Resident. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and is the Founder and Director of the Contact Dermatitis Clinic. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Allergy and Immunology at UCSD. She speaks English, Russian, and Spanish.

Originally from New York, Dr. Finnin received her undergraduate degree at Cornell University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Biological Sciences. She earned her medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, then completed her internship at Montefiore New Rochelle followed by dermatology residency at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. She joined the practice in 2022.

Dr. Edelman is a double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her medical degree at George Washington University (inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Society), completed her internship at UCLA, dermatology residency at the University of Louisville as Chief Resident, and Procedural Dermatology fellowship at Washington University. A San Diego native, she's thrilled to be back home.

Dr. Werbel is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. Originally from Florida, he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Florida with dual degrees in Economics and Biochemistry, plus a master's in Finance. He earned his medical degree at UCSD, followed by an internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital and dermatology residency at the University of Florida. He completed his Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship at the University of Florida, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Born in France, Dr. de Kouchkovsky graduated with honors from UC Berkeley and earned his MD and PhD from Yale University with a focus on immunology. He completed his internship at UC Irvine Medical Center and dermatology residency at UCSD, where he developed a passion for patient-centered care treating complex dermatological conditions. He is bilingual, speaking both English and French.
