Loved photographing this couple whose wedding photos I also took three and a half years ago. Can’t wait to meet their sweet baby girl.
Two amazing families welcomed (surprise! early!) baby boys last week, and I was honored to be able to capture their mamas in the exciting days of anticipation. Congratulations to the D and L families on their beautiful firstborn sons. They are going to be wonderful parents, and I can’t wait to see what God has for these two new little lives!
Well, when this little one showed up to his beach session in nothing but his OshKosh overalls, I thought he couldn’t get any cuter. But then his mama pulled out the hand-knitted Santa hat her sister had made and overnighted specifically for this session, and I realized how very wrong I was. Cuteness OVERLOAD. Bring on Christmas!
Turns out my kids are not the only ones who, when presented with a beautiful, sandy beach, completely forget about the camera and run headlong to the shoreline to get as wet as possible, as soon as possible. This lively bunch of cousins came all the way from Texas, and there was no stopping them when it came to the water! Of course, I was pretty much on board with that, since some of my favorite pictures are not of the posed variety, but more . . . frolicking. Don’t miss the seaweed jumprope!
When Jenny contacted me back in August about her maternity photography session, she already knew just what she wanted. We just had to wait for the tummy to grow enough to make the images she was envisioning! Congrats, in advance, to Jenny and David on their new little one, coming early next year!
Birth Photography 101 . . . This was my first shot at birth photography! I love photographing events (weddings, baby showers, birthday parties), but I had never photographed a birth, and I was so excited when my friend Christie offered me the chance. Christie has two big boys, but she is a newlywed as of a year ago Sunday, and this little sister is a pretty special girl. Makes me tear up again just thinking about it. I felt so honored and blessed to be there, witnessing the amazing gift of new life. Congratulations, Christie and Ward. She is beautiful!!
My good friend Sarah of Sarah Jayne Photography is about ready to pop with her third baby boy, and she did me the honor of allowing me to photograph her family. I say “honor,” because Sarah is awesome. In fact, if it weren’t for her, I would most likely not be in this biz at all. My professional photography experience dates back to about five years ago, when I asked Sarah the age-old question, “What kind of camera should I buy?”
She has seen me through three cameras since then, and I have sat at her feet for several tutorials as she explained the ins and outs of editing software. She told me what classes to take, what forums to join, and she let me be part of a group of amazing San Diego photographers when I was really just starting out. We’ve shot a wedding together and I have wielded the kooky puppet during her preschool photo days. So, it really was my honor (and Melanie Monroe Photography’s) to do Sarah’s maternity session! Congratulations, Sarah and Ryan!! I can’t wait to meet little Drew!
(P.S. – Right before I clicked “submit,” I saw Sarah written up on the Mommarazzi School blog!)
This session got my heart racing! The clouds were rushing toward the horizon (bad news!) and traffic was moving slowly. Everything seemed to be conspiring against getting the dramatic, silhouetted maternity shots that I was hoping for – so I told Kasey and Bryan to strap on their running shoes, and we got to the location in record time – and JUST in time. I love this couple and their mysterious little bundle! Nobody finds out the gender till the birthday – so check out the baby shoes shots below. I can’t wait to meet this special little one! (I also photographed Kasey & Bryan’s wedding a year and a half ago . . . it is here.)
