This New Jersey family was a pleasure to work with, and their girls – one a lovely 14-year-old and the other a fiesty two-year-old – were so much fun to photograph! It was neat to see the special bond between the older daughter and her baby sister. <3
I’ve been wanting to photograph this gorgeous, curly-haired family for a while, and I was so excited to do some child and mommy-child portraits at Crystal Pier. It’s fun to sometimes incorporate special favorites of the moment into photo sessions, to remind us exactly what our kids were “into” at the time of the session. A favorite doll is also a great way to get some smiles out of camera-shy kiddos. 🙂
My first blog post of 2014, and I am feeling refreshed and enthusiastic about the new year . . . thanks in great part to a wonderful women’s retreat that I had the pleasure of organizing and attending last weekend. What a treat! Two nights at the Coronado Island Marriott and four sessions of worship and teaching by my dear friend Dr. Gail Bones and her talented daughter, Emily Weeks.
Just before the retreat began, I had the opportunity to sneek over to the other side of the island for some family portraits with Emily and her equally-talented husband, Caleb Weeks. Their baby, Summer, was full of smiles and giggles in her red dress, and I can see why she is absolutely the apple of her grandmother’s eye.
This delightful Virginia family was a dream to photograph on Coronado! The little girls were so much fun, and the whole family was just picture-perfect with their sweet and Southern style. I was in photographer Heaven.
Lots of red heads — including the hotel — at the Del last month when I photographed the wonderful Powers family. Kimberly and I taught junior high together back before we started our families, and she was the life of the party with her Alabama accent, eternal optimism, and extreme enthusiasm for life. Since then she and her husband Scott have been on many Coast Guard adventures. They have been stationed in Alaska, the Midwest, and Virginia, and now they’re back “home” in San Diego. We celebrated with a nice beach session, just in time for Christmas photos. I’m so glad to have Kimberly and all her boys back in town!
The important thing about a Daddy and Me photography session is capturing the love between father and son as they shared their vacation experience in Pacific Beach! (For those not currently immersed in children’s literature, check out The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown.)
