Sonia’s Senior Portraits in Balboa Park | San Diego Photography
Sonia’s family is always a blast to photograph, and this time I had the pleasure of focusing on beautiful Sonia for her senior portraits in Balboa Park.

Quite possibly the sweetest thing ever! Matthew asked for Jayneann’s hand . . . again, since they’ve been married for years . . . during a family portrait session with their godkids. I first met this couple during their friend Lydia’s wedding, where Matt was officiating and Jayneann was the matron of honor and created the floral arrangements. I loved that they wanted to experience another fun beach session to celebrate their love for one another!
Sometimes the last-minute portrait sessions are the best! Carrie called me when they were already staying at the Hotel del Coronado, wondering about a family session with her husband and two littles. What a delight this family was, and we were all thrilled with the results. I can’t wait to see them again in a year or two!
These San Diego locals squeezed this photo session in right before school started, and I’m so glad they made it a priority! Lives are busy with activities and homework, but at these ages, things are changing fast! Teens and tweens need portraits just as much as the little ones. <3
We have a tradition for Ava’s birthday photo sessions! A giant balloon declares the age she has become, and usually Ava is a little concerned about the balloon and not too excited about getting close to it. This year, though, she was FIVE, and she was very brave about the balloon. Then Ava and her mom and dad (okay, and the photographer) had a blast zooming around the sandy beach and twirling on the shore. Looking forward to birthday #6 next fall!
This mother-daughter duo was such a joy to photograph. Julie and Mika came to sunny San Diego for Mika’s senior portraits, and the results were beautiful! They are both natural models, and the sky was in perfect condition for some breathtaking silhouettes on Coronado Beach.
It has taken us a few tries to get a “shiny beach session” with the Bones/Weeks family! Schedules, weather, sickness . . . we just haven’t been able to work it out until this month when everything came together. It was a fast-paced, moderately-crazy hour or so, and I just love these images. They capture this fleeting time before these five cousins meet the newest addition in a few months.
Anna and Brandon left their home up north to spend some kid-free time in San Diego, just the two of them. A big highlight of their time here was renting this amazing Lamborghini! We started at their hotel and ended up on the beach in Del Mar. Love that last shot, even if I had to get out my flash to do it!
Sisters Sheri and Sabrina converged on Coronado(http://hoteldel.com) with their delightful families, and oh, boy, did those cousins(https://amygrayphotography.com/san-diego-family-photography-cousins/) have fun!!
Rose and Alfred have been married 26 years and celebrated their commitment with a beautiful vow renewal on Coronado. They were vacationing from the East Coast with their four children and their partners, and the beach was the perfect backdrop for their intimate, God-honoring ceremony and fun family portraits.
Katie and Justin’s elopement was a gorgeous Coronado adventure, starting at Spreckels Park, continuing on the 904 bus, and ending on Coronado beach!
When Elaine booked her session, she wrote in the comments, “The girls are easy . . . they grew up in front of the camera.” Okay, you’re not kidding! What MODELS they were, with all the expressions and gorgeous poses! And why did they grow up in front of the camera, you ask? Because Elaine is a photographer herself! It’s always such an honor to be chosen to photograph another photographer’s family. If you’re in the Gilbert, Arizona, area and need portraits, be sure to look up Elaine Kessler Photography!
